Read the Drink Label, Not Just the Flavor Name

A fruit illustration or a familiar flavor name is an invitation to explore. It is not the complete description of a drink. Before comparing two bottles, check the exact product name, ingredient list, nutrition basis and instructions on the pack.

Start with the product identity

Look at the brand, collection, flavor and bottle size together. A Mango bottle in one collection may not be the same formulation as Mango in another collection.

The product’s legal name is also important. A juice drink, a flavoured drink and a coconut-water drink are not interchangeable descriptions. Use the wording on the exact product rather than assigning a category from its front illustration alone.

Read the ingredient list

The full list gives you more information than a headline on the front. It may identify juice percentages, nata de coco, flavourings, sweeteners or other ingredients.

For example, the supplied Cojo Cojo Zero labels declare 30% nata de coco and list sweeteners. That is why a Zero Sugar statement should not be read as a sweetener-free statement. Different claims answer different questions.

Check what the nutrition table measures

Before comparing numbers, look at the stated basis. A table may refer to a serving or another declared quantity. Use equivalent quantities when making a comparison, and do not transfer values from a different flavor or bottle.

The Zero product information presented here states its values per 320 ml serving. Those values do not describe every product in the broader Cojo Cojo portfolio.

Keep use and safety information in view

Storage after opening, serving instructions, warnings and allergen information are part of choosing and using a product. They should not disappear behind a front-of-pack claim or a lifestyle photograph.

For the Cojo Cojo Zero labels described here, the instructions include refrigeration after opening and consumption within 24 hours, together with the warning about infants under 36 months and nata de coco pieces.

Ask about the exact bottle

If information is unclear, include the flavor, collection, size and market when contacting the brand. A product identifier or batch information can help distinguish similar bottles.

A useful comparison begins with knowing that you are comparing the right products.
